Distance & Archery

Distance trail events take place in parks and wilderness settings. Even though distance trail events like NATRC and ETS take place on the “real” trail, training and horsemanship are still included in the scoring of these events.

Endurance riding does not have a horsemanship score. All that matters is that you cross the finish line with a sound horse inside the time limit. Endurance rides have 2 distances: Limited Distance (LD) 35 miles and under, and Endurance which is 50 miles and over.

Mounted archery is archery on horseback. Archers will use a horsebow. The horsebow is a short traditional recurve bow. Arrows must have fieldpoints. Any style tack is allowed for mounted archery.
